About Me
Have you ever met someone who blends a love for literature, a passion for education, and a zeal for adventure seamlessly? That's my life! I'm an elementary school librarian, and I've worked with students in varying capacities for decades. But it's not just teaching that makes me stand out from the crowd: I've also racked up some professional accomplishments and found plenty of things to do outside of the library.
My Educational Background
I have a bachelor's degree in history and English literature as well as a master's degree in library science. My college experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the written word and provided me with an education that would serve me throughout my entire career.
My Professional Accomplishments
After graduating from college, I became the librarian of an elementary school in my hometown. I quickly made a name for myself among the staff and students alike, introducing innovative programs that enhanced student engagement and learning. Under my leadership, the school library has become a vibrant hub of activities, including book clubs and writing workshops.
I have also attended a variety of professional conferences and workshops for librarians and educators all over the country, and I've even had the chance to be a speaker at a few. I love sharing my experiences and ideas with others in my field!
My Personal Interests
When I am not immersing myself in books or inspiring young readers, I am in constant pursuit of personal development and learning. A natural problem-solver, I enjoy the logical challenges offered by computer programming, and I've recently taken up learning Python as a hobby.
I also understand the importance of a healthy body for a healthy mind. I am an avid jogger and yoga enthusiast, always ready to exchange my reading glasses for my running shoes or yoga mat. I'm a firm believer in the power of nutrition, and my kitchen is a testament to my commitment to a balanced diet, filled with colorful fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Additionally, art and travel hold special places in my heart. I love exploring art museums, admiring the creativity and perspective of artists from different eras. As an avid traveler, I have journeyed across continents, gathering experiences and knowledge and often finding inspiration for my work.
Workshops Attended and Hosted
Throughout my career, I have benefited greatly from the advice and knowledge of other librarians. I have attended many workshops, including ones hosted by the American Library Association (ALA) and the American Association for School Librarians (AASL). I've also had the opportunity to share my own knowledge with others. Over the years, I have been invited to speak at schools and libraries around the country, offering my insight into modern library trends and how to cultivate a love for reading in children.
